Silver Creek Slim

Who has a brand (registered or unregistered)? Here is a picture of my branding iron I picked up on Monday. I got it registered with the State of Wisconsin for $20 with renewal in 10 years for $10.

Didn't know they branded them there Wisconsin milk cows - thought they just give 'em an ear tag.

Good lookin' iron, Slim.  Don't burn yourself.

I have not seen a dairy cow, much less any bovine, in WI with a brand. You are right, it is mostly ear tags.

Thanks. I'll try not to burn myself with it.

Fergot to mention - all us rustlers just use a cinch ring.  Don't need no stinkin' brandin iron. ;D

Capt, years ago I found in a old barn a cinch ring that had gotten might hot on one edge, I always figgered it had some stories to tell or at least I could make up some stories for it. ;)

Then what you're tellin' me, Uncle Eph, is you don't think it got that way while it was on the horse?

Len Grewe made it. He lives by Poy Sippi. He is a vendor at Miss. Fandango and other places.

Call the Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection and request a Brand Registration form. You should fax them a copy of your brand to them to make sure it is not taken before you send the form back to them.  It costs $20 to register and $10 to renew every 10 years.

RattlesnakeJack

My CAS-Character brand is as appears at left - though here is a somewhat larger view:

My alias being Rattlesnake Jack Robson should explain the symbol and one basis for the initials - in fact the legal name of the original "Rattlesnake Jack Robson" was John M. Robson - so the initials fit either way....
Rattlesnake Jack Robson, Scout, Rocky Mountain Rangers, North West Canada, 1885
Major John M. Robson, Royal Scots of Canada, 1883-1901
Sgt. John Robson, Queen's Own Rifles of Canada, 1885
Bvt. Col, Commanding International Dept. and Div.  of Canada, Grand Army of the Frontier
