Howdy Gun Beaters,

Look what I found inside my ugly, bulbous, red stained Rossi coach gun.
(Sorry about the low rez image.)

I stripped the dark( almost black) finish off the stocks of my Rossi 92 and gave it an oil finish .The color is a perfect match to my model 94 winchester.

Now I see it! (smile) Looks a lot like one I had back in the mid-1980s, the one I started CAS with. I slimmed down the fore end on a belt sander, sanded the paint off the rest of the stock, then died it walnut red and started laying on the LinSpeed. Came out pretty nice.

When I came across an original 1892 Stevens hammer 12 ga the modified Rossi got retired, then years later sold or traded, can't remember which.

Howdy Dave T and others,

Aside from some work on the the extractor which was stiff and the forestock metal which was binding on the action, Here's what I had to do: Slim the forestock, reshape the areas around the lock plates, reshape the pistol grip (removed the ugly knob at the end of the grip), slim and reshape the nose of the comb, dress down the butt plate, strip the finish. A lot of sanding, golden oak stain under Birchwood Casey walnut stain followed by two applications of teak oil, then Three rubbings of Try-Oil and a layer of microchrystalin (sp?) wax.

Now it works great and looks like an old time coach gun.

I have a double hammer Rossi with oversize fore arm and would like to take a look at this one.  I think I have my glasses on.....but can't seem to focus. I love my Rossi that was bought new in the 70s and I'm sure this one is just as nice  ;D

Would it help if I drank a beer???

Howdy Eye-Weary gun beaters,

Sorry (again) for the bad photo, but the original photo was too big to post and I only had one compression setting in my computer and it is what you see. Back at the ad agency where I worked I had a stable of folks who handled this stuff. You all will have to take my word on it that it doesn't look like a butt ugly Rossi any more. I'm very pleased with the result.
