I am thinking about a conversion - am kind of torn between one of these or an open top.  Anyone have one of these and your thoughts on them please?  I mainly shoot 38 spl so am considering one that will thane that cartridge . . .

Also - I haven't had a chance to handle one of these.  Can some advise as to how the ejector works?  Is it a print loaded type like a Colt?  Or is it somehow tied into the loading lever?  I'm assuming the loading lever still functions in order to pull the cylinder pin to remove the cylinder?  Any information would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks!

The Ejector is a un-sprung rod that is held in check by a notch in the loading lever.
otherwise as you sermonize the lever holds the Cylinder pin in as in the C&B.

I have one in 45 Colt ,and it is a tack driver with Black Hills ammo.
but I also have several Colts and personally like these better for BP,  they'll digest BP all match long.

The Colts include a 2nd Gen 1860 with a R&D drop in, a 51 Navy with a Kirst Gated conversion.
a Kenny Howell type 1 Richards 44 , a Type II Richards 44, a Richards & Mason 38 and an Open Top in 44.

when planets align...do the deal !

You can see the ejector in action in Bottom Dealin Mike's youtube below.

Personally I don't find it a hassle at all.

I agree that the Colt's would be better for BP but I'm a Remington guy.

The 1858's in 38 may be heavy, they're kinda heavy in 45.

I love these pistols, I shoot black and I can get through a match with only wiping the cylinders once...and they com out way easier than my 1875's.

I've been to three matches since I bought these, shot all three clean.
