Rowdy,
Youtube says not proper address, or some such.  Always enjoy yours, by the way.

Rowdy,
NEAT Rifle! Nice video! ;D ;D
This link works.

LONG RANGE......
Back in 1875, Winchester claimed their 1873 Winchester .44 W.C.F. was accurate and effective out to 500 - 600 yards.
One of my very favorite things to do is to take my 1873 Winchester made in 1882 and shoot it at 500 meters (547 yards).
It wears a tang sight and I found that in combination with the early Marbles front sight, I have just enough elevation to reach the steel ram silhouettes at 500M. ;D ;D

On a day with little wind, it is amazing to me how accurate this Winchester creation is at that distance.  The statement they made is still very true today!

Thanks , I plan on using that rifle this year to bag a few Deer . I would love to put together a Vintage Hunting video . Maybe I can talk my son into filming the hunt ?

The ammo that was loaded by Ten X was loaded with Triple 7 . The ammo that I loaded for the other Video with the triple 7 was hotter . But Tenx loads for the cowboy shooters which is a milder round .Either choice the triple7 works .

Rowdy,

I am wondering about the actual rifle velocities of the Black Hills 44-40 and Ten-X 44-40 BPC ammunition.

Ten-X BPC (777) is cataloged at 1,200 f.p.s.
Black Hills is cataloged at 800 f.p.s. which would be the velocity in a handgun.

By comparison, original 44-40 b.p. and smokeless cataloged velocities were:
1,301 f.p.s  Rifle (24")
   920 f.p.s. Handgun (6")
   975 f.p.s. Handgun ( 7 1/2")

The Black Hills was around 1100 fps I THINK  It's been a while since I shot them over a chronograph . As for the Ten X I have no Idea . But I know the Triple 7 works good for a SUBSTITUTE . In the past I have shot APP and for Cowboy loads and for that it was OK . But the thing about APP I didn't care for was the velocity SPREAD .

Rowdy,
Thank you for the information.  Recently I picked up some factory 44-40 cowboy ammunition to test for velocity and accuracy so that I could rank each one in order of best to least for folks that don't reload.
Hornady / Ultramax / Winchester / Magtech

This video shows the Ten X black powder sub , they use Triple 7 . When I'm out of Swiss I use the Triple 7 it works pretty good . It is Hotter than the APP or Goex Pinnacle .
