New Buffalo Bore standard .45 Long Colt

Wow!  It says any postwar firearm chambered for .45 Long Colt.  Now I have a powerful round I can load in my Uberti Schofield .45 Cavalry.    That's pretty impressive.

but can  you safely load those kind of velocities for older guns?  They have some kind of special hot powder that doesn't generate the same high pressure most powders do.

Yes,....there are no SECRET powders out there,....AA#9 is one powder 1100FPS with a 200gr JHP and 950fps with a  250gr JHP....Lead won't be much different as long as it's gas checked.
They also said POST-War Guns.....Newer than 1945, everything with pre-war guns(Colts) changes as they usually have .454" bores....and BB lists no pressure to their loads.
BB only says STANDARD PRESSURE,......This is what I would be loading from ....and it's listed as safe for SAAs by Hornady.

Sgt Chapman

Don't some 4227 loads have about the same ballistics?

The "standard pressure" confuses me since any smokless frame in good shape is OK for SAMMI spec loads, wonder what "standard pressure" means?  I would be happier if they said "SAMMI Specs." ;)

I take it to be a marketing ploy Delmonico... It would be the SAMMI spec ammo.

Kind of what I thought, I'm sure it's good ammo and is safe in post-war guns in good shape, but it sure is mighty pricey compared to what one could do on their own.  Myself if I wanted 45 Colt to have that performance I'd buy a Blackhawk, because I doubt this stuff shoots to anywhere the same POA as stadard velocity stuff. ;)

It might do fine in some guns. If i want that kind of speed I'll load 3f Black then I know I'll have no pressure problems,....
I purchased a Rapine mould 250gr RNFP Hollow based slug you can just about replicate the 250gn slug /40gn 3f 45 colt loads with it,.....they would put a deer on it's ear NO DOUBT......

Full case of 3f  under 250 grains lead gets me an even 1000 fps from my 7.5" Colt.  If that won't do the job,  I go find my Krag or Trapdoor . . .  (Never been afflicted with magnumitis I reckon.)
Civilize them with a Krag . . .

I don't understand.  The only spot where leakage could occur is the cylinder gab between cylinder and force cone.  And that's the case in any revolver (right?).   In any event, it isn't really a problem is it.  That is, it isn't dangerous

Hmm.  Interesting.  I don't think I've ever had my Uberti burn me, but then I typically shoot one hand, especially when shooting single action cowboy/cavalry type guns.

Just on the side, I noticed the spent shotgun shells seemed to eject from the gun.  I had heard self ejecting double barrel shotguns weren't allowed in CAS

Looks like good slick chambers to me that tosses em out with a flick of the gun.  (I see John beat me to it.)

As for auto ejectors, they are not allowed in SASS, NCOWS allows them because they were something sometimes seen on doubles of the period.  However they don't allow the single triggers like SASS since there was not one on the market that is known of.
