"Jory" Who's Read This?
« on: May 30, 2007, 09:49:58 AM »
Back in the '70s I read a book called "Jory" by Milton Bass. It was about a teenager in the old West who inadvertantly becomes a gunfighter because he is a gifted "natural." I remember liking it a lot at the time, but can't locate a copy. Has anybody here read it?

Yep! Read it and saw the movie. Same kid that played in the "Culpepper Cattle Company" and "Cahill - US Marshal". The book was way better.

WT, thanks for the info. Rawhide, I didn't know it had been filmed. I guess I'll pass on it since you think they did a bad job.

I remember the book and the movie, though I couldn't have told you the title until I read this. Good story.

Yeah, and B.J. Thomas, the singer, plays a gun-twirling show off.

Yeah, and B.J. Thomas, the singer, plays a gun-twirling show off.

The above and B.J. Thomas's "girly man voice" would be enough to turn almost anybody off.

The song "Rain Drops keep falling on my head" sounded out of place in a Western theme movie. The Movie "Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid," would have been much better without B.J. Thomas's song in it...

For my tastes, Robbie Benson doesn't have enough "personal physical presence" to be credible in a western theme movie...
