Winchester 1873 firing pin
« on: February 02, 2020, 11:28:30 AM »
In a Winchester 1873 rifle can a Uberti 2 piece firing pin be substituted without modifying the Winchester original breech block ?

No idea.   Uberti claims their firing pin/extension set-up produces an inertial firing system.  The breach block (bolt) has a channel inside it that has four, different diameters as it progresses from the rear to the front.  These channels accommodate the (from back to front): Extension, head of the firing pin, return spring, and tip of the pin.   I don't know what the channel on a Winchester bolt 'looks' like.

Unlikely. The Winchester Is specifically machined for the Winchester pin, the Uberti is different and would require a significant modification.

Hi Justin   :(

Short answer - - - NO.  No compatibility at all.  If you need an OEM "Original" '73 firing pin, you'll need to lurker's on the antique winchester parts sites.

Hey Coffinmaker!

I only know this because of the help you and WM1 gave me on my POS Uberti 1873, and coupled with the original 1873 I just assembled/reassembled, the difference are stark.

I have only found that the screws are compatible so far! But have not tried to do any swapping of parts.
