Yup! And you can carry yer C&B gunz around in yer holsters with "loaded" chambers...as long as they ain't capped.

I have a Buntline with a detachable stock.  It's a cartridge gun. 

Never catch any grief for usin' it at local shoots.  The folks in my class see it and they know they're gonna whip my ass in that match - bad.

I have been shooting C&Bs nonstop without interruption, hot or cold, rain or shine for at least 12 years. I do not have an extra cylinder for any gun, I get an extra gun for any "reload" on a stage. I hang out alot at the reloading table where I recharge my pistolas and clear shooters coming off the line. No problemo. I charge five chambers, wad up 5 chambers, ram lead into 5 chambers and grease 5 chambers. Done. I cap at the loading table where everybody else has an open loading gate into which thay are inserting suppositories. sometimes I even do some ROing. If you've got questions, we've got answers. Feel free to email the boartd or me directly and i/we'll be more than glad to help you learn the easy way: from our mistakes! Man, have I learned a lot.

I think there are fewer C&B shooters than ever before. I suspect that the emphasis on speed has something to do with it but I fully understand if someone doesn't like to fuss with a gun to get it dialed in. If you are not hung up on your score, then you can tolerate the occasional jam or misfire but some folks can't let it go so they put in suppositories instead of loose powder & ball. Just my warped opinion.

Thanks all... I like the ideal of cartiage conversions, but I love the old cap and ball pistols also. Was hoping to but another brace of guns together this year.  CAS is about fun, I don't want to be the slowest at a match, and I still want to have fun. As long as I am able to pull the trigger, I am still winning. Having smoke and flames coming out the barrel,is a bonus
