The old 2 speed Chevy Powerglide (55-57) had reverse below  Low and Drive.  I lost a tranny in my '56 BelAir  2door HT. I was trying to downshift to Low and I went too far down.  I had a cousin that bought a new '58 Roadmaster 4door, Man did that thing have a lot of chrome.  I had the Air suspension option. It looked like a lowrider sitting in the driveway.  It had an iar compressor that started when the engine started.  You could actually see the car raise up while it was sitting in the driveway.

Which one? The Rifle, the Buick or the neighbor lady?

Boy this thread brings back some nice memories (not about the neighbor lady).  My very first car was a Rambler Classic.  I could drive from Tennessee to Florida and start headin' back on a tank of gas (about $14, as I recall).
Many moons later I had a used '68 Buick convertible. The previous owner had removed the "i" from the hood and man, I got a lot of sheet from my friends, "Hey Buck, nice ragtop!"

And if I'd had a case'a buffalo guns, I coulda put 'em in the trunk or the back seat!  (stayin' on topic)
Lunarian, n.  An inhabitant of the moon, as distinguished from Lunatic, one whom the moon inhabits. (Ambrose Bierce).  Which one are you?

Only Buick I ever owned wasn't really a Buick, but a Chevy Citation that said Buick Skylark on it.  Bought it for $200 3 days before deer season in 2000 cause my Plymouth turned shiftless on me.   ;D

Could haul a lot of dutch ovens in it by removing the back seat, that way the weight was on the front and back springs.  Hauled the Sharps in it a lot also. ;)

I had a friend who owned a Rambler.  Girls liked it, but their parents didn't.  Those reclining seats, you know.

His name was John Able and he went by Abe.  He removed both Rs, the M and the L and had a personalized car.  They even spaced out right.

Them seats were a holdover from Nash, "Nice girls don't date guys with Nashs."  Heard that on Happy Days once. ;)
