Wild West Magazine
« on: October 13, 2011, 09:13:02 AM »
Anybody ever pick-up/read Wild West Magazine?  I just came across an ad for it online, but I've never seen in on a rack/news stand.  How is it?  Any good?

Some prefer Wild West magazine over True West, but I'll take both.

Wild West is highly informative and I strongly recommend it for historical research.
A work in progress.

I subscribe (have for the last 3+ years).  Read it cover to cover.  I really enjoy it.  I especially like it as the articles are not broken up (i.e. continued on page....).   Articles start and end without break.  It is a rarity that I REALLY LIKE!!!!!!

Excellent! Thanks, gents.

I'm pondering subscribing, since I've never come across a copy.

Why?  The last couple times I looked at it the magazine was geared mostly for yuppie type tourists.  Have they improved or are they still that way.  At least Wild West is mostly articles on history, not where to go with your RV.

I too prefer wild west, true west would be the size of a comic book less the advertisments.

I canceled my subsciption to TRUE WEST magazine because I don't travel in a RV, I don't camp in a Motel and I don't wear sandals.

I prefer Wild West to True West for the fact that Wild West is more about history and facts and not fluff like True West is. True West is fun to read, but it is kinda like an infomercial on the west and not all of it is accurate in my opinion. But that's just my opinion. Maybe it's the way they present it that bothers me. Too much like an advert.

I like both but the one thing that aggravates me about True West is that its like picking your way through a travel guide that you find in a hotel.
