Would like to make a Loading Block
« on: October 10, 2007, 12:10:30 AM »
Would like to make a Loading Block.

Am new to this sport and am aiming for a brace of Colt Open tops in .44, and was wondering what size to drill the holes if I were to make a Loading block to use while at the loading table.  Could I use the same size hole for 44-40s?

Currently do not have the guns nor the ammo so have nothing to take to the local hardware store for comparison.

Any help is appreciated.

I uses a scrap of 2 x 8 about 24" long .  Plotted out the holes and drilled them about 1/2 way through with a 1/2" paddle / spade bit .  Works for up to .45-70 .

     I then plotted out holes in between with a 3/8" bit for .223 & .30 Carbine .

God bless
Wyr
