After all the jacks are in their boxes
And the clowns have all gone to bed,
You can hear happiness, staring on down the street,
Footprints dressed in red,
And the wind whispers "Mary."

A broom is drearily sweeping
Up the broken pieces of yesterday's life.
Somewhere a queen is weeping,
Somewhere a king has no wife
And the wind, it cries, "Mary."

The traffic lights, they turn up blue tomorrow
And shine their emptiness down on my bed.
The tiny island says "downstream,"
'Cause a life that lived is dead.
And the wind screams, "Mary."

Will the wind ever remember
The names it has blown in the past?
And with its crutch, its old age, and its wisdom,
It whispers, "No. This will be the last."
And the wind cries, "Mary!"

I always thought that was a haunting and lovely song, Book, thanks for posting it!

Myself, I heard Adam Sandler's Thanksgiving song for the first time on the radio last Wednesday, and to celebrate the holiday, picked up two of his CDs. They are funny and irreverent, and there is no way I can post the lyrics in here.

AnnieLee, I couldn't find my old text file of those lyrics, so I popped the disk into the computer, which made it easy.

But then I got to fiddling with those light-show choices on Windows Media Player. Ended up sitting here in the dark, listening to Hendrix and sipping a glass of (cheap) brandy, until nearly 1 AM.

...one of the perks of being unemployable.   :D

Curley, I am setting up a new confuser also. Been using three elderly, arthritic ones to accomplish what one oughta do. (One won't connect to the DSL. One doesn't like my new camera. One has no working floppy drive.) Been sending the files from the old ones to a server, via FTP, then retrieving them on to the new one. A gruesome bore, except for the little forgotten treasures that turn up here and there. Spent the last hour playing Clay Kitten Shooting, a British thingie-what.

I hear yer tune.
This is the first computer that i haven't built myself since 1993. All my parts were becoming obso, (in my computer too,) so, my dealer had a deal that I couldn't even build it for less, so there I go...and now I am current but getting used to the techno...Since I do a lot of photography, I need the memory and speed. (and so does my computer...)
I have a device I got to use with my pictures called a Media Gear. It is a 20g h/d that hooks up by usb, also has ports for all camera cards. It would be a good option to switch info back and forth. It is also portable and battery opp.
very cool item..

This'n is a new notebook, my fifth such machine. Pretty cool, except no DB9 serial port; everything USB. Also, no floppy drive. Not that I'll miss the damn things.

Morning, Curley, Book!

Singing the songs of new computers?  ;)

I got this one a little over a year ago. No floppy drive in it, but it does have one standard CD and one read/write CD, so I can transfer information if need be.

What I really like about it is the 17" flat screen monitor. I have space on my desk now!

Howdy, AnnieLee.

I'm kinda addicted to notebook confusers, especially now that we travel so much. Miss Peggy has a reg'lar computer, but mine always goes with us, if only for the games.

One "camping" trip, we had two laptops in the trailer, and we had this 12-year-old kid at the campground convinced we had a local area network in there. 'Twas refreshing to meet a child of that age who wasn't so cynical that he rejected the idea out of hand.

afternoon, AL, BM,
Hope yer doing well, I had no problems with computer or cable last night, I realize I already need more memory on my system as I do a lot of graphics work. I use the cd burner to store my photos and most people are now going to dvd cuz it holds so much more info. I always seem to be techno-retarded..
but do what I can afford....

Anybody got a song.?

Old Top is happy cuz he got hiz other  '75 remmie....so he has one on each hip
I can even hear him grinnin from here....

Anybody got a song.?

Ven der fuhrer says, "Ve iss der master race,"
We heil (thbbb) heil (thbb) right in der fuhrer's face.
Not to luff der fuhrer is a great disgrace,
So we heil (thbbb) heil (thbb) right in der fuhrer's face.

Sorry you asked?

The only other one that sprang to mind was:

I used to work in Chicago, in a department store,
Behind the record counter. A lady came in the door.
She said she wanted some records; I asked her what kind she'd like.
Be-bop, she wanted. Be-BOP, I did.
I'll never work there any more.

NOW: I don't know if any of y'all are amateur psychoanalysts, but mebbe someone could venture a theory why going to bed with a bellyful of booze and an earful of Hendrix caused me to wake up with a headful of Spike Jones...

Book,

Possibly the sirens and bangs?  That normally go with a Spike Jones tune.  The song for the holidays for me would be "All I want for Christmas is my two front teeth"  One of mine has gone awol.

Does anybody know what caliber guns Spike used? I'll bet he still holds the world record for the greatest number of blanks shot off in one showbiz career.

Now, here's a more unusual Spike Jones tune. Don't ask why I can recall all these lyrics. :-\

Give it me a cocktail when I am sad and droopy,
And then I'll dance the polka, and make it lots of whoopie.
My work is in a coal mine; things look pretty black.
But tonight the drink's on me; I cash-it my paycheck.

Everybody have a drink, don't nobody start trouble.
Some smart aleck likes it twice, I make it trouble double.
Bartender, why you holler? Oh, I owe you sixteen dollar!
Turn on the water in the sink. Everybody have a drink.

so in return you get:

Does your chewing gum lose its flavor on the bed post over night
does your mother tell you not to chew, but you chew it in spite.

bumpity bumpity bumpity
(in a high voice) " If a tin whistle is made of tin...then what is a fog horn made of....."

see your spike with chewing gum and raise it with
Better watch out kids for the EggPlant that ate Chicago...
(a real song done by:.......Quick, who did "The Egg Plant that Ate Chicago")

While we've sunk this low, is there a Doctor Demento web page somewhere?
