Wow, they are gone within a couple minutes!  Moderators or admin are on the ball!  :)

This is very strange.  Three people had their first post on this topic.  I'm thinking at least the last two are AI bots and will report them as such, and let the moderators figure it out.

If either cloakedoink or celemtine are real people, I invite them to come back on and prove me wrong.

I had a ball, even if my back was not cooperating all the time. Big thanks to Books, Mogorilla, and all the KVC folks who put on a sometimes crazy match for us. There were 5 states represented there. I liked the comment Books made after the stage where we had to shoot under a wagon, prone, at increasingly distant targets: ”The knucklehead that wrote this stage won’t do that again!”

Thanks again, KVC

The Darksider's Den / Re: Ballistol?
« Last post by Sedalia Dave on Yesterday at 10:16:33 AM »
Been using it for years and it is BP compatible.

For some applications there are much better options.

Straight Ballistol doesn't work well removing hard BP fouling. You need to mix it with water. AKA Moose Milk (1 or 2 parts Ballistol to 9 or 8 parts water)

For cleaning hard BP deposits I find PAM works better than Ballistol and Dawn Power Wash works better still.

I could be mistaken, but a pair of Rodeo II's in that caliber would be rare.  I've never seen them in that caliber before.

When my H&R did the same thing, it wasn't that the cam had turned on the shaft, but that the weld on the thumb piece had broken and the thumb piece had turned on the shaft which didn't allow the shaft to turn far enough to fully engage the cam.  You might check that ???

I’ve been using black powder for a very long time and water  has been the base of my cleaning with and without additives. A few years ago I heard a lot of chatter about Ballistol  and gave it a try. I had never had a problem with rust on any gun up till then. After using it the bore of my rifle showed rust after it had cleaned with Ballistol. I wouldn’t recommend using it to anyone!

STORM / Re: 1866 uberti stains on brass receiver
« Last post by Coffinmaker on Yesterday at 09:09:11 AM »
 :) Tayhitman  ;)

The 1866 receiver is BRASS.  It will stain whether shooting Smokeless or Black Powder or Subs.  I am also surprised Brasso didn't do the job.

There are those of us who champion Brass rifles who actually prefer to allow the brass rifles to stain (patina??) and like the look.  All of my Brass rifles are well patina'd and I prefer that look.  It is however your rifle and it's your choice.

DO NOT USE SANDPAPER unless you use 2000 or 3000 grit wet/dry.  Any larger grit will actually leave scratches you may not be able to remove.
