I'll pull out my dies and check.

I doubt it; it should be easier to remove, if anything.  The .45 ACP sizing die might size the brass just a bit smaller than a .45 Colt die would, to better fit the .45 ACP chambers.  No promises, of course.

I've handled a lot of the Cimarron '92's.  They're made by Chiappa.  You are right, no safeties.  They seem real smooth when empty, but when cycling ammo not so much, meaning they could use some smoothing and spring work like other '92's.  Very nice fit and finish, though.

It has been a while, but Chiappa used to put a thin steel rod (plug) in the magazine, attached to the end cap, to limit them to 6 rounds.  Someone at Cimarron (me, at one point) would remove the magazine cap and cut off that rod.  Sometimes they would ship a rifle that still had the rod.  If by any chance you can only load 6, that's the deal and easy to fix.

I haven't owned a motorcycle in some years but plan to get another, and I'd like to get one of the Chiappa take-down '92's to carry to matches.  :)

Well....
I may wind up not getting a Rossi after all.

I just found a decent price for the Cimarron 1892, and it has an octagon barrel....
Which is what I was actually looking for all along.

Its hard to find many pics of the gun online, but from what I see so far, its a true copy of the Winchester.
No weird ass extra safeties that I can find anywhere on it.

Anyone have any experience with these?

AND you could sell a socket to help put them in and take them out.

Have not tried that, but would that cause an issue of after the round has been fired
having the brass be a bit tight to remove ???

I would try sizing your C45S brass in a .45 ACP sizing die if you haven't already.

I think a lot of people already had a 45 Colt rifle before they decided to try black powder.  Or else they knew they wanted to shoot BP when they bought it but were unaware of the action fouling issues.

I shot a lot of 45 Colt BP in a '92 when it was my only rifle, but now that I have multiple calibers, my .45 '73 is strictly smokeless.  I shot BP in it a single time, using 45 Schofield rounds (because it is a trapper and it is easier to load them) fully loaded with a 250 gr "Desperado Bullet Co." bullets with their "BP friendly" lube.  Well, it was pretty horrible both in the bore and the action, so I'm sticking to the .38, 44-40, and 32-20 for BP.  I considered fireforming some 44-40's to .45 but not for long as there is no need.

Uberti, Pietta and other SAA Clones / 45 ACP Cylinder for my Uberti Dalton.
« Last post by Tronicst1 on Yesterday at 01:07:01 PM »
So, I just received my 45 ACP Cylinder and did the minor fitting required for my Uberti Dalton, 45 Colt.
The Cylinder is from Taylor's & Co. and works just fine in my Uberti. I originally purchased the 45 ACP Cylinder
to shoot C45S Rounds through it, as I have read about a few people shooting C45S Rounds through their
45 ACP Cylinders.

I found that I can drop 6, 45 ACP Brass Cases in the 45 ACP Cylinder and my Uberti cycles and operates
just fine. If I try and load C45S Brass I find that it gets tighter as I push it further into the Cylinder. I found
that this is due to the Cylinder having a slight taper in it to coincide with the taper on the 45 ACP Brass.

So my plan now is to use my 45 ACP Cylinder to test sub 14,000 C.U.P. rounds and then use that data to
load C45S Cases and fire them in my 45 Colt Cylinder. This must seem like a bunch of trouble to go through
to shoot something, but I guess that's just me.

;D  One really nice thing about Starline 44-40 brass??  It makes really superb 45 Colt cartridges that seal rifle chambers really really well.

I've heard of a few people doing this which seems like a good way to make 45 colt more black powder friendly in a rifle. What I never have understood is if you are going to buy 44-40 brass, why not just shoot 44-40 which is even better?
