I would send it back to Colt and have it fixed. Is it just aproblem with the cylinder or does the barrel have a peoblem to?

Barrel is great after 200 rds. it's the cylinder that peels off. call colt the gun is over 1 year old, colt will not cover the cost 6-8 wks turn around this one is going to be sold.

If you bought the gun new then Colt ought to make good on the finish. Call someone higher up on the food chain.

Wish I could help, but I've never had any luck with nickle guns, the plaiting always finds a way to chip off, as nice as they look, I won't own one any more, unless it's for looks only and just kept in the safe.

charlie-6 this is all very interesting to me because I just bought a nickel SAA not to long ago. Would it be to much to ask for you to take a picture of your problem and post it on this thread?

Very simple:  whoever plated the gun did not properly clean & degrease before plating. Call Colt.

Cool.  I found one here that seems to have the same problem, but it was CHEAP.

The nickle was not bad.  It looks as if there was a clear coat on the cylinder and clear coat was peeling.  It was under a 1000.

I have some ambition to send it to an engraver and put Ivory on it.  We will see.  I have a lot of projects.
