Uberti 1873 in 44MAG

The Uberti 1873 44mag rifle has been out a while now.  Does anyone have any experience with how the 1873 action is holding up to the magnum round?  I once had a 1873 in 45lc and loved it.  I would like to have another 1873, but in 44mag so I can hunt with it.  Thanks

Haven't seen one, haven't heard of one, can't find information on one.  44 magnum is a bit of a heavy load for a toggle link rifle.  Just don't think one would stand up to much .44 mag. fodder.

I can not believe Ubertie would make a rifle in 44 mag.that wouldn't hold up.The the toggle action is a lot stronger than most people think.

 I bought one of these in .44 Magnum several months ago to replace my '73 sort rifle in .44 Special. I LOVE the rifle. It's lighter than the short rifle and what little I've fired it seems to be plenty accurate.

It depends on a few factors. IIRC there were several toggle link machine guns or at least semi-auto, military caliber rifles with this design.  The Luger pistol has a toggle link action. The primary factor in how much a M1873 action can take is the materials. Modern steels can be heat treated to much higher levels than the originals which were either wrought iron, or mild steel. The fit up of the ends of the links with the recoil shoulders in the receiver will have a bearing (NO pun intended), as will the diameter and hardness of the pivot pins. That is not to say that you can't blow up ANY gun with the wrong loads, and that a steady diet of over-maximum loads won't damage the gun. But it that is what you want, then go to a M92, and even then, don't go over the handbook loads.
