Prayer Request For the Missus
« on: December 23, 2012, 03:34:00 PM »
Pards, could y'all put my wife Catherine on our prayer list please? She has not really felt well since she got sick during Thanksgiving. I took her to our regular doctor this past Monday (12-17-12). Her blood pressure was a little elevated, and they told her that her kidney function had dropped some. Well, she started feeling worse Friday afternoon, so I took her to the ER. Her blood pressure when we got there was 225/110. They kept her until 3:00 Saturday morning, giving her medication to lower her BP. They finally got it down to 165/95. But the ER doctor also said that according to the bloodwork, Catherine's kidneys are only functioning at 50% capacity. Her regular doctor is referring her to a kidney specialist, and we will find out when the appointment is on Monday, Christmas Eve. Thanks.

You got it, Matt! God speed for the best prognosis.

In the meantime, I'd like to refer you a just published book, "Piper's Call", written by Beverly Fox, a friend of mine. One of the stories in the book is of a kidney patient she assists in her dialysis trials. She interviewed the head nurse in the department of our local hospital to get the facts straight.

She has a face book page or you can contact her at: piperscall@hotmail.com.   Your wife may find it quite uplifting. I did.

My best wishes for this turning out to be only a temporary issue. I hope it all turns out positively.

Hi,

As always, my prayers are out to the both of you ...

My guess is that your Christnas appointment was tentative and that the doctor ordered many more tests .... I know that more tests, especially if they were just done, can be frustrating as hell.

Think of this group as out of the ' loop' and someone to talk to that you can just be yourself ... you don't have to put up the stiff upper lip you normally have to around family and close friends ...

This is a place you can be yourself ... let down and be natural ...

But best wishes ... let's hope it is a warning ... there is actually a thing ... a syndrome if you will ... that can come from too much Christmas chow ....  perhaps it was only this and it will go back to normal ... and then next year you both will be forewarned before the holidays ....

Both you and your wife are on my prayer list.

It can't be understated.... Prayer has great power and the Lord hears our prayers.

Any updates on how she's now doing?
