Thanks for telling me that, it will probably help a lot.  The folks on the BassPro forum got a little jumpy when I told them I was a kid, so I don't really want this to here.  I can't wait to get my Remmie and Colt and out-do my mother at 25 paces against that bad-hat bandit, "The Milk Jug Full Of Water. TK your age is no problem on the forum.  There are 15 year old's that are polite and well spoken and there are 50 year old's that should not be in public unattended.  When you get the Remmie and or colt let us know and post pictures or the gun and shooting it.

I can tell ya' one thing, it sure beats video games.  I do quite enjoy the old leverguns and wheel irons, I have an old Winchester 94, of coarse a 30WCF (mine is manufactured before the round was known as the 30-30 ) and the U.S.R.C. I showed earlier.  I also have an old Westernfield 20 gauge goosegun, and if my research is correct, it was released from the factory in the mid to late 50's. Not quite a WAS gun, but the dinosaurs were still around when it was made   Thank y'all for puttin' up with me.

...And Abiline, according to the Cimarron sight, they carry the Thunderer in 44WCF and 5 1\5 inch barrel for $572.60, standard blue...

Just got back in town.  Sorry about that, Kid, I was wrong and you are right about the gun being carried in 5 1/2".  I was looking at the inventory sheet and the 5 1/2" was listed separately from the shorter barrels and I missed it.  The bad news is there are none in stock    You could have them order one from Italy but it could take a number of months to come in.

No problem Abiline, not everybody can be perfect   As for getting the Thunderer, I had some "unforeseen expenses" come up, so now I can't afford one anyway.  Why are car parts so doggone expensive

Well, Kid, that is a situation that most of us can relate to.  But hey, you're young, plenty of time left to buy guns, right?  I used to have a decent job and bought most of my guns then.  Have only bought one in last 7 years.  But I have plenty of toys to play with so no worries

If they have that gun in .45 Colt I'd jump on it like Oprah on a canned ham.  Even though it's not NCOWS legal, I would use it for a carry gun.

Now that's a pretty gun. I bought a Winchester 94 this summer with money I got from an animal auction (I was awarded Grand Champion for my meat turkey. ) at the local fair.  My 94 is a 1928, so it almost counts as a WAS.  But since I can't afford the Thunderer, I'm looking for a Euroarms Remington revolver now, I am still interested in the Thunderer, though.  See y'all round.

Trinity - it's a good thing that you have handled one. The grips on the Thunderer are surprisingly "hand filling". They are a little bit fat for me and all of the ones that I have handled had the slick grips. That being said, I am in the process of dealing for one right now. It is 3 1/2" barrel in .45 L.C. I definitely wanted .45 L.C. because my Rossi '92 and both of my Bountyhunters are .45 L.C. and I'll only have to reload one caliber. I didn't like the slick grips, but that, along with the “fat feeling” in the grips are resolvable situations. When Santa brings me this gun I plan to try to get used to it like it is, but I don‘t hold out too much hope for that happening. I can take the belt sander to the grips and thing them down a little and refinish with that nice clear lacquer. If I do get some slip in the grip when firing, like I suspect that I will’ I can stipple the grips for a better hold. I would prefer not to checker them as the .45 L.C. produces enough recoil (it’s those 250 gr. Bullets), even with light loads, to rub your palm raw with extended shooting with checkered grips. Stippling is easy to do, just use a nail set, not a center punch, and keep the pattern as random as you can. It will come out looking a lot better than you thought it would.

Okay, thank y'all kindly for the useful input, I think I've been swayed towards it. So now for my next question, what would y'all call a reasonable price for one. Strait from Cimarron it says $572 and some change, but from both of my semi local gunshops list them for $650-$700 plus shipping for the special order. What are y'alls sentiments on this?  Thank y'all very much.

Welcome to the campfire there young'un. I believe that this is what you were describing:


I just traded for this pistol and I hope to get hold of it in a few days. It has the 3 1/2" bbl and is chambered in .45 L.C. I handload everything that I shoot, so i can easily adjust the powder loads to accommodate the situation. I can load them up to max velocities for use in my '92 and hunting or down to pussy cat levels for the Thunderer. Or somewhere in the middle for my 7 1/2" clones. You can roll your own for a whiole less than you buy them. I can laod up 50 .45 L.C.'s for about 1/4 of what they cost in a store. If you scrounge your brass ( just be prepared to have your hand slapped if you reach down for someonelse's casing) and keep your eye out for discounts on powder and primers. you can shoot very economically. I do not cast my own bullets. Ready made bullets made to specs that I can't cast bullets to are abundant and pretty cheap. Casing your own is hazardous, dirty, smelly (you may not mind but "Mama" will) You can look here:http://www.missouribullet.com/index.php

Gunbroker.com ( http://www.gunbroker.com/ )is a good place to both get your brass pretty cheap and check out the going prices on your Thunderer. Personally I wouldn't pay more than about $475 for a new one or about $400. 00 used.

Ooooooh, pretty.  I actually just bought a Remington .44, so ow I'm $300 short of being able to get a Thunderer   I was going to shoot it today, but snow storms aren't very conductive of shooting sessions.  It snowed 9 inches in three hours
