Travelling
« on: October 22, 2009, 12:45:22 PM »
Hey, I need a container holding up to about a gallon with a non-drip/spill lid that I can use to carry hot food to events where I can't cook.  Might have to keep it hot for a few hours before being served.

Something in the under $50.00 area would be nice.

Let me think on that, wonder if a small water jug would work.  I've seen them used for coffee.

Go check out the Thermos brand containers  http://www.thermos.com/  I looked and they have some
that might do what you need.

Did you know that the Thermos is the bestest invention in the last 200 years?

Bestest you say. What do you mean ?

Well when you put hot food in, it stays hot.  And when you put cold food in, it stays cold.

Yes you say.......

Well how do it know ?  ::)  ::)

2 Gallon Insulated Containerl

A couple of tips that can help.

Preheating your cooler with hot or boiling water and let it sit to heat upwill help keep food warmer longer. If its cool/cold outside wrap in a couple of heavy towels that you have warmed up in the dryer for 10 minutes or so.

You could get an insulated bag and and put your hot food and some hot towels to keep it warm.

The above suggestions do depend upon what you are trying to keep hot.

Howdy Forty-Rod,

Pyrex Portables! I use 'em for tailgate parties, they're great.  Various sizes and shapes, pyrex contaiener with lid, insulated cover with carry handle, pockets inside for removable hot or cold packs. "Several hours" may be a bit much to expect, but they're the best thing I've found! Much cheaper on eBay than in local stores, if you can find them. I've got three or four..
