Hey Mike

My name is Andy Rombach from Germany.
I know the man at the show. I was may be Mark Howes, from Ft. Collins, CO.
He does some F.A. Meanea work in order of Mr. Bob Nelson from Cheyenne Wyo under the name "F.A. MEANEA Co." . Nelson bought the rights from the Meanea familie and Mark built the stuff for him. In 2001 Mr. Nelson sold the patterns to somebody I do not know. This guy built F.A. Meanea stuff for about 1 jear in the old Meanea building in Cheyenne Wyo. But the quality was not what the customers are looking for and much worser than the stuff from Mark Howes. He does a pretty good work.

I have several original F.A. Meanea Holsters in my collection and do some reproductions as well. See pics.

have a wonderfull day.

Andy, if those are your reproductions, they are the most authentic-looking Meanea holsters I've ever seen. (Along with Rick Bachman's.) Did you trace the patterns from originals?

Hey Skeeter
Yes well, I have original Holsters in my collection and "study" on Frank Meanea since more than 20 years. I have a house full of photos and take most of my patterns from old Holsters. I visite the US 2 times a year grapping some good stuff for my little museum.
I do leather work since little more than 20 years. 4 years ago I start doing spurs in the traditional way also.
Visite my facebook site (Andreas Rombach, Profilepic is a saddle) and see some of my pics as well.

Have you ever seen stuff from Mr. Wild Bill Cleaver, or Mario Hanel?? These are Artists!!!!!!

So long

Andy, those are some very fine reproductions. Meanea's work is some of my favorite. Can you tell me where to get the tooling to do the border you have on the two bottom holsters in the top picture? I have some original saddle pockets with that same border and would like to make an exact copy of them.

More great work, Andy.
Yes, I saw a holster by Wild Bill  Cleaver in Packing Iron, but I can't find anything online. Mario Hanel does very authentic work also - they're both top talents....
I'm going to have a look at your website now....

Hey Cliff

It was a very old Osborne roll, and a old flower stamp (one pice) I use on this Holster. The little flower at the corners of the border tooling came from McMillan Tool Co.... bought years ago. McMillan does the finest reproduction tools I have ever seen. They where in buissnes since 1870 (or so), and still doing fabiles leather tools... The pice continues to the quality:-////
During the years I bought more than 450 old leather stamps from different Makers... To have the right tool is the main way to built some good stuff. Also emportant is the quality of the leather, and the pattern you use.
Would you share a pic of the bags with us??

Here are some of my bags.
Have a great day

Andy, here is a picture of the original set next to a set I put together to use when shooting. I traced the originals and made a them the same except for the stamping and the buckles. I'd like to do an exact copy if I can find the right roll to do the border. I could probably make the flower stamp.

Hey Cliff
Thanks for sharing the pic. That is a great pair of F.A.Menaea Bags, comming with the 14P Saddle (boder tooled Model) Your bags are also great craftsmanship. Well done!!!!!
As I told you the roll I have is a old Osborne roll. It is may be from the 1890 - 1900. I do not know where to get a roll like that. I am so sorry about that.

Do you collect Cowboy memorabilia???

If I can help you on something else let me know.

So long
