When I go to Cracker Barrel and order the big meal, they asked me what veggies I want, Itell them GREENS  They ask what else, "no you don't understand, I want greens, put them in a big bowl or bring them in 3 samll ones, I want greens and don't ferget the vinegar."  I did this in Omaha when Slim and Annie was with me, the folks at Cracker Barrel thought we were Amish. ???

Delmonico enters the thread, see's litl rooster and Trinity eatin' at Cracker Barrel and realizes sodbuster has a goo place to eat in his thread.  Delmonico makes a note of that and also sees sodbuster's light is out so he leaves him a note. ::)

Sod Buster,  I think we need to get some of them veggies and squeeze em for juice and send it over to Stoney Pete, he ain't got no stout bar so we need to set him up a health drink bar, It'd go over good out there since they ain't got no liquor
We done it for Dixie,  nothing else

Sod Buster sees the note and loads up his wagon with some potatos, sweet potatos, beets, carrots, turnips, rutabagas, parsnips, and onions and heads over to to Tom's Pub.  On his next trip he will bring the cauliflower, mushrooms, leeks, broccoli, peas, chicory, endive, asparagus and some apples.  There is plenty to go around!

Good idea!
Sod Buster gathers some ingredients for the "New Life" Juice Drink:
carrots, beets, turnips, parsnips, celery, rutabaga, red cabbage, radishes, Granny Smith apples.

Sod Buster stops by Del's store and puts in an order for a juicer and some cranberries and heads to Stoney;s thread with the delivery.

Since we are in a waxing moon, Sod Buster decides to do some night-time field work.  Grannie would be proud!

He spends the night sowing seeds, fertilizing and grafting some fruit trees.

Later during the waning phases, time will be spent pruing, planting, transplanting, and harvesting.  The 4th quarter is reserved for weeding.

Since Sod Buster has had insomnia for quite a while, he is up all hours of the day and night.  Perhaps he will spy an stray sheep or two for harvesting.

NEWS FLASH!

A specialty soybean from Virginia with a cheesy flavor and an offensive odor has found a market in Japan.

Bill Taliaferro and his brothers run Montague Farms in Essex County. The farm is supplying natto bean, which is eaten for breakfast, as a sandwich spread and in soups.

Montague Farms shipped more than 10,000-tons of the beans last year, and is expanding its operation into Isle of Wight County. The company will open a processing and export facility near Windsor by the fall -- just in time for the soybean harvest.

The Taliaferros are looking for more than 100 farmers in southeast Virginia to grow the beans.

Researchers at Virginia Tech have developed a new variety of the natto bean that grows particularly well in the mid-Atlantic region. They call it the vanatto.

Taliaferro says the beans ferment, and their texture makes them sticky. They're usually served with soy sauce and mustard

Delmonico comes into the tread and looks over the soy bean field, looks good, will make a lot of oil.  I only know one recipe fer soy beans to maker them eatable.

Plant soy beans in field near wooded creek.

Let deer eat soy-beans.

Shoot the deer and cup up and braise in iron skillet, make canned milk gravey and serve over sourdough biscuits. ;D

(My favorite meal in the whole world. ;D)

Interesting....you gotta "harvest" the deer to harvest the beans.

There are lots of recipes for soybeans - from salads to soups to "poor man's steak".

My ex-wife had a lot of friends that were vegitarians, I've ate a lot of that stuff, ya got to put a lot of spices and sauces on it to gag it down, most fake meats use some strange chemical processes to make it.  And worst of all it all gives me gas worse than any other food I've ever ate. ::)  I can detect TVP in any hamburger dish, only takes about an hour fer the lab to anny-lize. :P

Realized last weekend that much food is fried in soy bean oil like chips, went and visited a friend and he's burnin' the same stuff in his tractors, does that mean snack foods are fried is diesal fuel?
