Morning y'all.
Thanks fer the coffee and grub, pards.

we have to go over to Oklahoma to play the lottery or to go to a casino,  they have casino machines at the 2 major race tracks (Horse in Hot Springs and Dog track in West Memphis) but that's the only places you can throw yer money away here  ;D
I wish the tracks were the only place around here. Way too many casinos fer me.  >:( I ain't gonna rant.

I'm up. have to head off in about a 1/2 and see if Rita gets hewr drain out.
Hope they git 'er done this time.

'Tis 37 and cloudy. High of 56.

Think it’ll go OK, boys.  Pret sher I remember how ta bust the guncart down.  Got the directions ta the range all printed out.

The nearest casino is a ways away.  One the best things ‘bout Wawa openin’ ‘round the corner a couple years ago is they doan do the lottery.  Ya ain’t gottah wait ta check out it 7-11 behind some fool droolin’ on the counter lookin’ thru the l’il window tryin’ ta decide which ticket ta buy.

Yeah, they built a track at Colonial Downs with no Betting allowed...Then they wonder why no one comes.  All the race horses here in Virginia it really surprized me.   An hour away is Charlestown and looks like a mini Vegas at nght

Imagine there’s plenty bettin’ goin’ on there.  Just ain’t above board.  The commonwealth ain’t got no sense when it comes ta some things.  Most money from their enterprises is the ABC stores.  What does Richmond do ta save money under socialist Warner?  Cut the store hours back. I’d ah had the things open 24/7/365.  Wish that damned lottery was shoved up sumbody’s………..

They got slots it Dover but heck ‘nother hour or so I could be in Atlantic City. Then again after ya get ta Las Vegas ya doan wanna go ta the slums anymore.

Alls I wanna do is roulette er craps.  Usually go away a winner doin’ that.

Try out here.  Every bar, quick mart, grocery store, airport, not to mention the casinos.  Most locals just ignore it.

Got back about 10:30, no more drain.

Had a project I had to finish, nephew has 50 rounds of 308 with 150 gr Barnes X bullets in them.  Gave him Midways website, told him to plan ahead next time and save some money.  Local full retail store charged $31.98 for the box of bullets, and there are only 50 in a box.  Oh well even at that price they are worth every penny, you don't need that good 95% of the time, but that 5% can save a PIA after dark tracking, the exit on everything but a lengthwise shot and cut a hole about the size of yer thumb and causes a lot of blood to land on the ground.

Howdy, pards. I had some pressing stuff to get out before 12:00. Got 'er done. Now, what's this about casinos and such? We're lucky, not many in our area. The closest track is Bay Meadows in San Mateo. The closest casino is Cache Creek, north of San Francisco. Glad we don't have any closer than that. I like living in a California back-water town with only the county sheriff for law and chickens in the post office parking lot. I actually know my neighbors and we keep an eye out for each other. Of course, the same town in another state would be ideal. Well, someday, perhaps.

Gotta get the car ready to take the dogs to the races tomorrow. They run because it's what they like to do. No betting or anything. Bragging rights only but it's mighty fun. They sure love it or I wouldn't bother.

Maybe Sunday I'll get a motorcycle ride in.

I talked to my optimologist. He's giving me a sample +1.5 dia contact for my right eye to see if that will take care of the sighting issue I had at the last match. If that works, I can get a prescription for them at my next exam in a couple months.

Don’t know all of what bothers folks about gambling, Will.  It’s a choice. I look at table games as recreation and I enjoy playing them.  Blowing a hundred bucks at a craps table is no different than paying that much for a couple tickets for a play at the Wells except when one puts out the cash at the box office one knows they aren’t going to get it back.

When the lottery came into being, the convenience stores jumped into selling tickets.  If one hits at the wrong place and time, stopping for a quick purchase takes as long as it does going to a supermarket.  I wasn’t exaggerating all that much about some people drooling over their selections and stalling the line. Being unfortunate enough to get behind someone taking multiple punch cards to be read and bet on makes it worse. That usually occurs with office pools. I’ve left what I was going to buy on the counter and walked out more than once. I hate things in my way and I don’t suffer fools kindly.  I wish we had casinos to keep it in a place I could avoid.

Lottery tickets are as low-life as slot machines.  I wouldn’t be caught dead playing either.

As I said earlier, 7-11 sells the things, Wawa doesn’t.  Wawa gets my business.  Their employees are better trained and more polite anyway.

Good comparison.

My mother-in-law likes slot machines. I consider them the same as flushing your money down the toilet and hoping some of it comes back. I always did good at blackjack. Never could understand how to work roulette.

Those games are for fools.  A fool and his money are soon parted.

In the case of the lottery here, it’s a voluntary fool’s tax. I have no sympathy for them, just keep them out of my way.

my cousin that comes down from Oklahoma, is the machine mananger over in Claremore at Will Rogers Downs, they have machines and horse racing and drinking and a dance hall,  he says it's the awfulest mess ya ever saw, people come in spend every dime they can get their hands on,  he says they show after work every day.  says he saw a woman that had inherited a little money come in and drop $20,000 in about 24 hrs.

he said they have a counsler on duty all the time for such cases, the counsler went over talked with her, didn't do any good she just kept on stuffing the machine.

OK, heading to bed. Gotta get up really early and head out. Talk to you tomorrow night, later on.

I saw this on the road today. My wife shot a photo of it. I'm still wondering about it. I think it's for real. ::)
