50-95 Almost
« on: December 31, 2009, 06:29:50 PM »
Told my FFL friend to order a 50-95 from Taylors. ;D
Well they didn't come in in thier last shippment which just arived. :(
So I'm on the back order list. They said it should be in at the end of January
give or take.
In the mean time I'll get the loading supplys order. I hope BAC has what I need in stock.
The only thing I may waite on is the mould, need to slug the barrel. And Rapine is waiting on a shippment of aluminum
and he's not sure just when it's going to there.
Guess I'll have to play with my other toys for now.

Good move ordering your loading supplies except the mould.  While Uberti claims a groove diameter of .510", they do vary.  I bought my .50-95 directly from Taylors last year.  Its goove is .5136".  I use a Lyman 515139, sized .515'" with good results.  I also got Ray Rapine's 350T mould cut to .515".  He makes this mould in 3 different sizes to accomodate varying bore sizes.

Jamison just came out with their .50-95 brass and it is very nice.  Get it while the gettin' is good.

Your gonna love this rifle  ;D

One other thing I'll waite on is the sizer die from Lee. They may or may not have to custom make the sizer I will need.
BAC will be back open Monday so I can get things happening then.
Can't waite to get my sticky little hands on this. :)
This gun is also going to be special becuase I had an aunt pass away last spring
and this gun will be in her memory. She was quite an outdoor women.

BTW. Which shell holder will I need? Can't find that info.

I use the CH4D Uberti .50-95 dies and an RCBS #31 shell holder.  They both work perfectly.
