That price is actually decent.  I would buy it.  You will love the Henry.  So much history and so much fun to shoot.  Another option is Fall creek sutler for $1010. http://www.fcsutler.com/fcweaponscartridge.asp     But by the time you pay for shipping you might as well buy it locally.  Safe shooting.  Deadeye.

You might check here at Cas City with Marshal Halloway.  He might be able to find you one at a good price.

I have an Improved Henry (1866) in 44-40 that I just got to do an article on.  It is a border rifle with a 20" octagonal barrel. I will send it back after the article.  If someone wants it when I am done, I think it would be about $700ish plus shipping.

Nice gun!

Dixie is listing them at a special price:  $950--I'm very tempted, but also broke.

I bought an Allen Arms (Uberti) back about 1980-1 it was $350.... Allen & his sons Co. were bought out by Cimarron.
I used the bejesus out of the gun....Both mounted reenacting and shooting.
The only problem I had was a bent magazine spring my fault.
I hung it up mounting at the 1983 Saylor Creek National Event and it was forced open at the muzzle.
I wore the blue off the gun, and browned it.
The gun is still used at CAS events... though I sold it 15 years ago , same guy still shoots it.

I got another in 99 , it's a keeper  :D

Dusty, that's a beauty but I don't have an FFL and by the time I jump through all the hoops it might cost more than $979,I will look in to it.Thanks.

Micky:

You do not need an FFL, just one to ship to.  Probably cost you another $25 for transfer fees.  Most of these auction sites have a list of FFLs by zip code and what they charge, so you can shop around.
