bullding a JAGDPANZER IV in steel, in 1/6th scale

the scale model was made from steel plate, stick welded, including suspension arms, springs, the main gun,  the drive wheel and the idler wheel, being only the running wheels in aluminiun to save weight.

of course the pieze runs, but we must find  the right engine to make it work.

the weight is around 70 kg (around 150 pounds)

next project might well be a russian T34, or a Sherman, maybe american, or maybe canadian or commonwealth version.

each track is  composed of 100  fully working independent links. Note rust, via applying a rust developing chemical.




building process below...in good spanish steel.







running wheels, with fully working suspension system, with tempered spring blades,





the 16  running  wheels were made in aluminiun  to save weight.



the steel tracks are fully functional, as a I said.



the painting process has been started, with a RAL (german code for paint) sand yellow base
 







the tone of the colour is probably better distinguised indoors, as the pictures were taken in a sunny morning, with really hard strong light.




note that the pieze was artificially "aged", with a good painting job.

1894 Marlin 357 FMJ will do the trick easly......

a good cheap source of "rust applying chemical" is .....H2O can be picked up in your containers for pennies

 just water wont work, as it will take a long time, and wont leave a uniform coat of rusting. Thats why rust developers are sold, otherwise, I would not spend 20 euros in a bottle.

I have some experience in rust blueing, in fact, I blued my Cattleman with this old method, with perfect results. I would never get it with just plain water:


















You wont get this rust with  just H20

what I did with the tracks was applying the chemical and not boiling, but let it rust heavily and then applying a barnish to stop the process.

There was an outfit on England that sold a 1/6 th scale jagdpanzer. I tried for quite a while to buy one, never could them to call or answer my e mails, My dads youngest brother was a tank driver in the Third Army, always enjoyed listening to him talk about the German tanks.

Very nice job building the Jagdpanzer, outstanding work.
