Dang that Martha Stewart.
Now I'm thinkin about The Troggs and early Kinks tunes.

This was one of my favorites.  Got nothin ta do with haloween costumes, but simalar sound ta the last one.

I'm not content to be with you in the daytime.
Girl, I want to be with you all of the time.
The only time I feel alright is by your side.
Girl, I want to be with you all of the time,
All day and all of the night.
All day and all of the night.
All day and all of the night.

I believe that you and me last forever.
Oh, yeah, all day and nighttime yours, leave me never.
The only time I feel alright is by your side.
Girl, I want to be with you all of the time,
All day and all of the night.
All day and all of the night.

Oh, come on!

[ Instrumental break featuring electric guitar. ]

I believe that you and me last forever.
Oh, yeah, all day and nighttime yours, leave me never.
The only time I feel alright is by your side.
Girl, I want to be with you all of the time,
All day and all of the night.
All day and all of the night.
All day and all of the night.

Dern it, now I'm thinkin of the Kingsmen.  There was some controversy over this one, but it was just an old song that the guy mumbled through.

Great party piece. Every garage band in town knew it. Didn’t have to know the werds or how to play the drums or guitar ta do it. Just make noise.

The Halloween song I liked best - Dennis Yost and the Classics IV

In the cool of the evening when ev'rything is gettin' kind of groovy,
I call you up and ask you if you want to go and meet and see a movie,
First you say no, you've got some plans for the night,
And then you stop, and say, "All right."
Love is kinda crazy with a spooky little girl like you.

You always keep me guessin', I never seem to know what you are thinkin'.
And if a fella looks at you, it's for sure your little eye will be a-winkin'.
I get confused, 'cause I don't know where I stand,
And then you smile, and hold my hand.
Love is kinda crazy with a spooky little girl like you.
Spooky!

If you decide someday to stop this little game that you are playin',
I'm gonna tell you all what my heart's been a-dyin' to be sayin'.
Just like a ghost, you've been a-hauntin' my dreams,
So I'll propose... on Halloween.
Love is kinda crazy with a spooky little girl like you.

Spooky,
Spooky,
Spooky,
Oh-whoa, all right,
I said Spooky!

Here's the song that pops into my mind at Halloween - Bobby "Boris" Pickett and the Crypt Kickers

I was working in the lab late one night
When my eyes beheld an eerie sight
For my monster from his slab began to rise
And suddenly to my surprise

He did the mash
He did the monster mash
The monster mash
It was a graveyard smash
He did the mash
It caught on in a flash
He did the mash
He did the monster mash

From my laboratory in the castle east
To the master bedroom where the vampires feast
The ghouls all came from their humble abodes
To get a jolt from my electrodes

They did the mash
They did the monster mash
The monster mash
It was a graveyard smash
They did the mash
It caught on in a flash
They did the mash
They did the monster mash

The zombies were having fun
The party had just begun
The guests included Wolf Man
Dracula and his son

The scene was rockin', all were digging the sounds
Igor on chains, backed by his baying hounds
The coffin-bangers were about to arrive
With their vocal group, "The Crypt-Kicker Five"

They played the mash
They played the monster mash
The monster mash
It was a graveyard smash
They played the mash
It caught on in a flash
They played the mash
They played the monster mash

Out from his coffin, Drac's voice did ring
Seems he was troubled by just one thing
He opened the lid and shook his fist
And said, "Whatever happened to my Transylvania twist?"

It's now the mash
It's now the monster mash
The monster mash
And it's a graveyard smash
It's now the mash
It's caught on in a flash
It's now the mash
It's now the monster mash

Now everything's cool, Drac's a part of the band
And my monster mash is the hit of the land
For you, the living, this mash was meant too
When you get to my door, tell them Boris sent you

Then you can mash
Then you can monster mash
The monster mash
And do my graveyard smash
Then you can mash
You'll catch on in a flash
Then you can mash
Then you can monster mash

It/s nice to take a trip back to the 60's when we were young, didn't pay taxes, didn't have kids, or a mortgage.

Just moved in my new house today.
Movin' was hard but I got squared away.
Bells started ringin' and chains rattled loud.
I knew I moved in a haunted house.

Still I made up my mind to stay.
Nothin' was a-gonna drive me away.
When I seen somthin' that give me the creeps,
Had one big eye and-a two big feet.

I stood right still and I did the freeze.
He did just stroll right up to me.
Made a noise with his feet that sound like a drum.
Said "You be here when the mornin' comes?"

Say yes I'll be here when the mornin' comes.
I'll be right here and I ain't gonna run.
I bought this house and you know I'm boss.
Ain't no haint gonna run me off.

In my kitchen my stove was a-blazin' hot.
Coffee was a-boilin' in the pot.
The grease had melted in the pan.
Had a hunk a-meat right in my hand.

From outer space there sat a man
On the hot stove with the pots and pans.
"Say that's hot I began to shout."
He drank a-hot coffee right from the spout.

He ate the raw meat right from my hand.
Drank the hot grease from the frying pan.
Looked at me said "You better run."
"And don't be here when the mornin' comes."

Say, yes I'll be here when the mornin' comes.
I'll be right here and I ain't gonna run.
I bought this house and you know I'm boss.
Ain't no hain't gonna run me off.

Saw this on the same You Tube site.  Had a ’62 Buick Special in high school, and used to crank the sound way up when this came on the radio.  ::) ::)  Long before sub woofers and all that stuff they have crammed into cars nowadays, but I’m sure I disturbed a few people at stop lights! ::) ::) ::) ;D ;D

Well LIT, this sure aint a rocker but the band made me think of ya.  Or you made me think of it i guess ::)

A long time ago, when the earth was green,
There were more kinds of animals than you've ever seen.
They'd run around free while the earth was being born.
And the loveliest of them all was the unicorn.

There were green alligators and long-necked geese.
Some humpy-backed camels and some chimpanzees.
Some cats and rats and elephants, as sure as you're born.
And the loveliest of them all was the unicorn.

Now, God saw some sinning, and it gave him pain.
So he said, "Stand back, I'm going to make it rain."
He said, "Hey, Brother Noah, I'll tell you what to do:
Build me a floating zoo.

And take some of them green alligators and long-necked geese.
Some humpy-backed camels and some chimpanzees.
Some cats and rats and elephants, as sure as you're born.
And don't you forget my unicorn."

Old Noah was there to answer the call.
He finished up making the Ark just as the rain started falling.
He marched in the animals two by two,
And he called out as they went through,
[ Irish Rovers Lyrics are found on www.songlyrics.com ]

"Hey Lord, I got your green alligators and long-necked geese,
Some humpy-backed camels and some chimpanzees.
Some cats and rats and elephants, but Lord, I'm so forlorn.
I just can't see no unicorn."

Then Noah looked out through the driving rain.
Them unicorns were hiding, playing silly games.
Kicking and splashing while the rain was pourin'.
Oh them silly unicorn!

There were green alligators and long-necked geese,
Some humpy-backed camels and some chimpanzees.
Noah cried, "Close the door, cause the rain is pourin'
And we just can't wait for no unicorn."

The Ark started moving, it drifted with the tide.
The unicorns looked up from the rocks, and they cried.
And the waters came down and sort of floated them away.
And that's why you've never seen a unicorn, to this very day.

You'll see green alligators and long-necked geese,
Some humpy-backed camels and some chimpanzees.
Some cats and rats and elephant, but sure as you're born,
You're never gonna see no unicorn.

course we all remember one of our favorites by Paul and the boys

They took the whole Cherokee Nation
And put us on this reservation
Took away our ways of life
The tomahawk and the bow and knife

They took away our native tongue
And taught their English to our young
And all the beads we made by hand
Are nowadays made in Japan

Cherokee people, Cherokee tribe
So proud to live, so proud to die

They took the whole Indian Nation
And locked us on this reservation
And though I wear a shirt and tie
I’m still a red man deep inside

Cherokee people, Cherokee tribe
So proud to live, so proud to die

But maybe someday when they learn
Cherokee Nation will return
Will return
We done it for Dixie,  nothing else

One group I saw around '66-7 in a real small club waz:

Sir Douglas Quintet.... I think when I saw them they had stopped wearin they English duds....Saw PR and the Raiders at the same club.

There also was a topless bar that a couple of dancers really favoured "The Nation", and we really favoured them....hehehe

man them was the days/years....Wish I could remember the whole thing..

The Sir Doulas Quintet was really an American group. Sir Douglas was Doug Sahm who later became part of the Texas Tornados with Freddie Fender.
