Can old be combined with new??
« on: June 07, 2010, 01:02:22 AM »
Would anyone have any information on the interchangabilty of parts on original S&W #3's and new production Ubertis.

One of the guys I shoot BPCR with has an original #3 New Model Russian, and it needs some open heart surgery and some new guts to get the old girl back into shooting order.

Thanks.

According to David Chicoine's book, "Smith & Wesson Sixguns of the Old West", only a few incidental parts are interchangable btween the Uberti and the original.  If you can find the book, however, many parts are illustrated and dimensions for some replacement parts are shown, as well as good details of the mechanical parts.

OK, many thanks.  I'll look into that when I get a chance.
