Hey all, sorry I've been away
« on: December 28, 2014, 01:52:10 AM »
Greetings all,

Sorry I've been out for a spell.  Between working on and finishing undergrad, now having a 4 year old, and moving out to Kingman, Az and working on getting land and a ranch, I've been busy of late.

the good news: things have settled down for the most part, and I've been able to figure out my free time.

I've been busy too!  On Christmas, me, my friend and my girl rolled 100 rounds of paper .44 cartridges for my and my girl's Colt Navies.  Now I'm really wanting some Armies because A) I love the fluted cylinder model, and B) they're historically accurate in .44!  Either that, or there's a Dragoon 3rd for sale in a store nearby. ;)

here are the threads I've started of late on the stuff I'm working on.

basically in my recent years of breaking my green-horn saddle tendencies (only dude ranches and stuff before this) thanks to my friends, we've been following the jaquima/hackamore, two-rope, bridle techniques of the Vaquero in the Southwest.  I'm basically working on my garb and persona to fit this.

persona specific and general stuff:

the inspiration for a future rifle:

leathercraft stuff (right now, asking about particular styles, but will mature into actual work in hand-crafting botas de alas and other gear):

Merry Christmas!
