JW movies
« on: August 02, 2012, 10:36:17 AM »
Yesterday was 'John Wayne' movie day on TCM.

I watched two - "Red River" and "She Wore A Yellow Ribbon". I've decided that "Red River" is my first choice as it's in glorious black & white and shows some human emotions and topics that must have been shocking in the era. Like the leading lady Joanne Dru agreeing to have JW's baby so long as he promises not to kill Montgomery Clift.

In "SWAYR", the movie is a mix of corn ball romanticism and some excellent riding by Ben Johnson. The famous scene of the Troops riding through the lightning storm was always a favourite, but watching closely, I saw the same flash of  'Hollywood' lightning appear in the same place a couple of times.

"I won't be wronged, I won't be insulted, I won't be laid a hand on.
I don't do these things to others and I require the same from them."  John Wayne
