Is it a family thing with you?
« on: December 04, 2004, 06:23:12 PM »
Has other members of you family been in law enforcement and did that have any bearing on you signing up?

I had an uncle, a niece, a brother-in-law and two nephews in law enforcement. My son wants to pursue a career with a federal agency once he leaves the Marine Corps. None of this had anything to do with me joining up; I was fresh back from Vietnam and it just seemed to be the right thing to do.

I always wanted to be a Texas Highway Patrolman. I didn't have 20/20 vision at the time so I didn't pass.  I went to college for 4 yrs. I got out in went into the Army for 2yrs.  While I was in College, my Dad was elected Sheriff of our County.  He had never been in LE of any kind. In 1970, I started in LE.  I've sent the last 20 years as a Deputy in Teaxas.  My served 2 trems as sheriff and died of Cancer in 1978. I have 34 1/2 years as a cop and plan to retire at 40 years.
