Hot & Spicy Gravy
« on: October 23, 2005, 09:27:05 PM »
This cool weather reminded me of an old deer camp favorite,

get some Hot,hot,  Hot links,  cut them in chunks about 1/2 inch,  get a little oil, 3 or 4 tablspoons , fry up these hot links good and crisp, put them aside in a bowl.
make up some white flour gravy just as you usually do, using the oil from the hot links, but as it starts to thicken throw in the cooked hot links.  Then serve this up over some big biscuits, you talk about waking you up in the morning,  it's good.  a few eggs on the side.
We done it for Dixie,  nothing else

I love to use hot sausage for my gravy and then I still add plenty of black pepper.  Some people don't like the gravy to make their nose run though so I don't do it very often.   ::)

I used to have a son-in law that loved the hot gravy, but needed about a half gallon of milk to finish a meal.

I love that black pepper too. just have to let my nose run.

Ah, good old nose run. Out here unless your forehead sweats and your nose runs, you just have not had good Tex-Mex, or SW New Mexico. I put about four good shakes of hot sauce on bisquits and gravey and a large dose of fresh ground black pepper! Also the best tasting thing to add to the gravey is two chopped up Hatch, NM peppers.
