Navy Arms Trapdoor Carbine?
« on: September 30, 2012, 04:18:00 PM »
Howdy folks!

Stumbled upon a like new Navy Arms trapdoor at the local gun shop. What is a fair price for one of these in good condition? Is it a good first Buffalo rifle? Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks and Gig'em,
Coyote

Is this a rifle or Carbine?  This would have been made by Pedersoli, these are excellent quality weapons.  Price can run $800-$1200 depending on condition.  The good Milspec 3 groove bore, excellent for BP shooting. Rated for standard pressure smokeless .45-70.

A bit light for a Target weapon, (Particularly if a carbine) though the infantry rifles have made good scores in BP sillouette; but again excellent for hunting or action shooting.   You can never go wrong starting with a .45-70.

Thanks for the help! It is a carbine and priced at the very bottom of your price estimate. I think I need to go back to the gun shop with a safe queen to trade in. Hopefully I can score this good looking rifle.

Your welcome. I'm using such a Carbine in my GAF match this weekend in KS.  Might just be my favorite all around single shot, for fun or meat.  Sounds like that may be one to grab!
