What caliber do you carry while Hunting ????

Just wanted to see what other shooters are carrying . I like a 45 colt and a 44wcf . I prefer a to have the same caliber in pistol and rifle while hunting . Sure would hate to stick a 45 colt in my 44wcf 73 rifle . I like the 4 3/4 inch barrel , it carries easier .

Most of the time I carry a Marlin .38-55. It's easily good out to 200 yards. IF I carry a revolver it's a .45 Colt. If I'm bird hunting I usually carry a .45. In reality a few rounds of buckshot in my pocket would work as well.

Depends on the rifle I have at the time. If I take a 44-40 rifle, I carry a revolver in the same caliber. If I have any of my other lever guns, I carry a .45 revolver. I prefer a 5 1/2 inch barrel but like the 7 1/2 almost as much. Occasionally I'll pack a 4 3/4 incher for the heck of it.

I carry my 45 colt when I hunt with my 76 Winchester or my Remington Rolling Block .

I have a "special" carry gun for hunting.  Tiz a Ruger Blackhawk, 45 Colt with a 3 1/2 barrel.  265 Gr cast Keith type bullet loaded to about 1200 FPS.  It is for serious work only.  It is NOT fun to just play with.  A real wrist cracker.

I agree with Shotgun Franklin on rifles. I carry a Marlin 38-55, but my pistols are all .44 Special.

  I assume, since this is a revolver section, you're talking about revolvers. Last year I carried and used a 4 3/4" Uberti in .44 Special for three deer. This year I carried the same Uberti then switched to a 5 1/2" Cimarron in the same caliber. I also carried my 4 5/8" Ruger NM Vaquero in 45 Colt some. No deer this year though.
