First Old Army Questions
« on: January 04, 2008, 07:37:30 AM »
I got my Old Army yesterday.  5.5" SS fixed sights. I have a few questions.  Darn thing is built like an Abrams Tank!  LOVE IT.

1. Cylinder lock-up side to side is extremly tight and good, but there is some front to back play.  Is this normal?  I have a New Model Black Hawk in 45 LC and the front to back play is minimal.

2. Eventually I want to get a conversion cylinder for it in 45 LC.  Are the R&D cylinders truly drop-in.

3. When Shooting R&D cylinders does the cowboy ammo perform similar to cap & ball as far as where I aim is where it will hit, or will I have to adjust my point of aim?

4. What kind of loads are typically shot out of this tank?

5. I see in the manual that it is also designed to shoot conicals.  If I run across some lead 45 LC ammo can I shoot this as well?

Thanks in advance

You want more play in the front to back of the cylinder on a BP gun.  Otherwise it'll bind and get gunked up from BP residue.
