Trying to avoid the two gun rig
« on: April 14, 2005, 11:26:54 PM »
If I have one revolver, one rifle, and one shotgun, then the only thing I'm left out of is the "Gunfighter" stage?  That right?

Are you the Rowdy Bill I know in NY?  You might want to check that alias if you haven't registered.

You will need a 2nd revolver, unless you want to reload that one on the clock each stage.  Believe me, that gets old quick!  But if that's what you want to do, then go for it.

Yup, you're left out of Gunfighter.

No, not a New Yorker, I'm a Texan.  So reloading on the clock, eh?  But the reloading only loses time, I presume, if it leaks over into the next stage, right?

I want a crossdraw rig without a strong side hip holster (Too hard for my left hand to reach.  Kidding.)

Yup.  Reloading costs time.  This is a timed event.  So adding time by having to reload a pistol for every stage will hurt your scores.  However, if you don't care about that, then no problem.

Just about every stage requires 10 pistol rounds.

Then it's got to be a two gun rig, looks like.  Thanks for the info.

You're welcome!  Have you been out to a local match yet to watch?

Not yet.  Live just east of Dallas, Texas.  Will have to look for a local club close in the area.  Greenville might be one.

Get out and see it!  That'll give you a much better idea of the equipment needed for the game.

Will do.  So far I have a Marlin 1895 with a custom ladder sight for the long range rifle event.  Will try to handle some revolvers to see which fits best.

I know this is a little late in answering. But you don't have to have a 2 gun rig. A pard of mine carries his 2nd pistol in a shoulder holster & always has.
