WTB for project: 12 Ga. bolt action shotgun
« on: October 20, 2011, 05:40:16 PM »
Need an old bolt action, must be a 12 Ga.  Looking for a functional beater.  Cash or trade, might have uniform to swap if it fits you.   ;D

Drydock, checked our inventory and all of the single shots are hammered. But we do have a bolt action 12. It's in pretty good shape but the price isn't bad. Let me know here or in PM what your guidelines are and we'll go from there. Al.   Wish I could have been at the Muster but prior commitments prevailed. Were the baby ducks safe? Al.

Good idea, I'm not sure I'd trust him around baby ducks. ::)

A half scale Mountain Howitzer?  Or is that the Pack Howitzer?
Listen!  Do you hear that?  The roar of Cannons and the screams of the dying.  Ahh!  Music to my ears.

It would be a half scale Hotchkiss 1.65" Mountian howitzer.

At one time Marlin offered a bolt action 12 ga.  They offered to let me borrow one for review, but that was at least 30 years ago, and I had no real use for it and so declined.  :(

The Mountain Howitzer is a different animal.  The 12 pound Mt. Howitzer is a muzzle loader adopted in 1836 and remained in the U.S. arsenal until 1890.  It was replaced by the breech-loading Hotchkiss.

If anyone is interested; I have a full scale Mt. Howitzer for sale with all of the accessories.

Aha, so that's what your project is! When I saw "Hotchkiss" before, I was thinking of the machine gun. I was just looking at some pics with those the other day(on the Moroland wars website), and thinking they would be a neat project. Even full size, they're not too huge.

In the same website, they had some pics of the Colt's 1895, got me wondering if one could be made up, perhaps with a disguised Ruger 10/22 or an SKS. Of course, it wouldn't have the authentic"potato digger" action.
