1866 part
« on: March 04, 2009, 09:04:05 PM »
I have an Uberti 1866 that the cam on the finger lever where the spring rides is getting
all chewed up. It looks like there is a pin that will take the cam off and not have to
replace the whole finger lever. Does anyone know if this can be replaced and
where to get one?

   Thanks BTB

I think those parts can be replaced, otherwise they wouldn't be separate parts..  I know Cimarron has them as I saw them in the bin today  ;D  VTIGUNPARTS.COM probably has them, too.

If you have one of the "older" built Uberti guns, the cam is indeed replaceable.  On the "new" rifles, the cam is not replaceable and when the cam goes, it's weld it up and re-machine or replace the lever.
After you replace that cam, if you still have stock Uberti lever and carrier block springs, change at least the lever spring out for and aftermarket spring.  I'd go with "Slixspings" from Longhunter Shooting Supply or Pioneer Gunworks.  If you have a qualified '73, '66 or Henry riflesmith lurking about, have him/her regrind the Uberti spring for ya.  That Ford truck overload spring that comes stock will eat the cam alive.
