cimarron frontier six shooter
« on: February 03, 2013, 10:14:07 AM »
I have the opportunity to by an old stock cimarron frontier six shooter and was wondering if they all had the special bone and leather case hardening? Is it a good deal for $500 new in the box?

I'd say that's a very good deal if it is unfired.  "Frontier Six Shooter" is a term Cimarron applies only to guns with the bone meal & charcoal color case hardening.  Not to be confused with their "Frontier" line which are the Pietta revolvers.  The label on the box should have "US01" as a suffix in the model number, or else say "U.S. Finish" in the description.

I see you are new here (welcome!).  The rules are that if you buy it you have to post pictures  ;D  Good luck.

I hope it's not this one: http://www.gunsamerica.com/904059431/Guns/Pistols/Cimmaron-Pistols/CIMARRON_UBERTI_P_FRONTIER_SIX_SHOOTER_45_COLT_REVOLVER_W_4_3_4_BARREL_BONE_CHARCOAL_AND_LEATHER_CASE_COLORS.htm .  There may be some issues there. Note the Pietta box in the photo.

Griff, good catch on that one!  That ad is mistaken (dishonest?) on numerous levels.  That gun is definitely a Pietta (note lack of patent dates for one).  I'm sure a look would confirm the barrel says Pietta on it.  And while the Piettas do have pretty nice frame colors for Italian guns, they are NOT charcoal and bone meal case colored.  Besides the box label saying Pietta on it  ??? the model number is PP410.  If it had been an Uberti (Model P) the model number would have been MP410.   And the price is only $5 under MSRP.   You should be able to get that gun for less.

I'd like to think it wasn't intentional, that the seller was confused by the word "Frontier". I kind of doubt it, but I'd like to think so.

It's not that one. I was pretty careful about pics. And such once I got good pics. Ot was ovious it was a US finish model (it says it on the end of the box too). I bought it for $550 new in the box. I'll post pics when it arrives.

Excellent!  I'm looking forward to those pictures.  Not as much as I'm sure you're looking forward to the gun, of course.
