« on: July 31, 2014, 02:29:06 PM »
Hello, new to CasCity.  I bought a SAA back in '98 (i believe) just looking for more info on it.  Serial number is DFC179.  Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance.

The DFC guns were shipped to Cherry's back in the late 90s.  I'm  trying to remember what DFC stood for.  When I remember, I'll post it.

DFC = David F. Clark, the government inspector for the guns.

Thank you guys.  It has been around 14 years since I have taken it out of the safe except to clean and oil.  Went to visit USFA website to see what was new and was stunned by the stupidity I saw.  Is there no way to find out how many were made or anything else?  Seems like the company is embarrassed and buttoned up, no phone numbers work and no one answers questions from the ZipFactory in regards to USFA.  Weird but you guys hear this everyday from every new poster.....sounds like blah blah blah to you guys I'm sure.  I will post pics shortly guys, thanks for all your info.  Anymore info would be welcome!!!!!

Regards,
Dan

USFA is out of business and has been for two or three years.  There are still web sites on the internet since they never go away, but the USFA that made Colt style guns is long gone.

The guns that went to Cherry's were numbered NFM xxx.  NFM stood for National Firearms Museum.  I checked with the source, DFC in the serial number went to Davidsons and DFC stood for Davidsons Firearms Corp.

Gary, do you have any idea of the total number of single actions made by USFA?

It's a shame they are no longer with us I prefer them to the current colt SAAs and purchased two In 38-40 a few years back from long hunter.  I just finished my customizing them first I switched the SAA grips for the larger army grips, given to me by alchemista.  Then Jim downing engraved both grip frames, barrels and cylinders as the frame is CCH, color cased hardened.  They are beautiful and fine guns. I use them mainly In classic cowboy and FCD.

I'm wondering what this Consective serial numbered Doug turbul color case hardened set would go for before and after the mods not that I'm interested in getting rid of them because I'm not.

I wasn't aware they were uberi guns I thought they were us made and assembled.

Blackey,
Would love to see pictures of those guns!
No all USFA's were made up of Uberti parts, only the earlier ones (1993to around 2001ish).  Later guns, around 2002 to the end, were all US made.  There seems to be a bit of debate as to exactly when the transition to all US made took place.  Maybe Gary can give us a more definitive date.

I'll have to take some some time when I've got the canon out.  Their too nice for a phone pic to do justice.  Or come to outlaw trail and see them in person.
