I hate ta say this; however I find it to be true, at least in my experence,
I served my country, in the Navy and active reserve for six years and sailors are known for cussin an I cussed along with the best of 'em when in the service, but when I left, I left the cussin behind, Oh I still know the words and on occaision some do slip out but never in public. It's always "gosh, heck, fooey, shucks, bellybones, and fingledapt" and rarely an ocaisional "Bloody" If I'm really purturbed when out in public.
As I said before, English is rich enough to say what you want to say with resorting to 'gutter language.'
I find foul language degrading to the speaker. It shows, in my estimation, a lack of intellegence. and lack of respect for the listeners. However I do agree with Mark Twain who is creited with saying "Sometimes a good hell or damn releaves stress quicker than praying can." Or something to that effect.
