New Blackhawk grip frame on Bisley Vaquero?
« on: January 05, 2007, 04:11:17 PM »
I have a Bisley Vaquero in 44 mag and would like to install a Blackhawk grip frame with the lock.  Is this possible and which parts will be needed from the Blackhawk?

It is sure possible!!!  I have done several.

Ya can find all the info in some previous posts on this here forum.  Just do a search.  I'll wager it will come up in seconds.

All of the movin' parts have the same geometry & screw locations.
You will want hammer, trigger, grip frame, panels, grip roll pin.  I am in the market for any extra of the Bisley parts you will remove.

What lock are you talkin' about?
You don't mean a NM Blackhawk of 2004 or newer vintage, are ya?
I am givin' you info on the Blackhawk (large) of 1972 to present day vintage.

PM me if ya need.  But the Pards who frequent here are more expert on SA Rugers than I am!!

I want a grip frame the same size as the ones on my new 50th anniversary model flattop 44 mags.

Nope, they say they won't fit.
But if ya want that "Colt" shape & size---Check with my Pard Ron Power (Power Custom Guns).
He makes a Colt frip frame for the OM Vaqueros & "big" Blackhawks.

Brownells also sells a Colt sized grip frame that fits the Rugers. To be "SASS" legal you will need to swap the hammer in addition to the frame as it is not legal to have a Bisley hammer paired with a standard grip frame.

You will have no trouble getting a few dollars for the old parts to recoup costs. A lot of folks (myself included) love the Bisley grip frames and are always looking for them to put on standard Vaqueros.
