That's interesting,....thanks for that info, .......it'll save me time & hassle working up a load.
I'll try a few at 4.0,4.5 and 4.7 and compare how they shoot in my pistol.

I cheated. I had two .357 cylinders bored out to accept .44 Colt/Remington CF and stuck them in my .44WCF 1875's.

Grapeshot,....now that's the way to go!!
You get full use of the .44s that way.
I think my next Remington would be an 1875 chambered in 44WCF

If I remember corectly, most 18751s were actually in .44 Remington. That was a Remington version of the same cartridge as a .44 Colt. They will sometimes, but not always, interchange

I believe the first 1600 1875 Remingtons were 44 Rem CF. they are marked only 44 on the frame, not the 44WCF normally found afterwards.

I think the 1875's in .44 Rem. were unmarked. Mine is marked 44 on the frame and is chambered for a .44/40.
My 1890 is marked 44WCF.

On original 1875's chambered for .44WCF, you may find that the cylinder throats are .445 in. This may be due to the fact that the engineers at Remington decided to ream out their .44 Remington cylinders for the .44/40. This would explain some of the reports that the .44-40 Remington 1875's were inaccurate. The .445 throats would be about right for the .44 Remington CF.
