1873 purchase
« on: March 05, 2013, 06:16:38 PM »
Planning on purchasing an 1873 Short rifle and I've got a couple questions.  Is there any reason I would want to purchase from Taylor's instead of Uberti?  Not sure if Taylor's does anything to the rifle for the premium price.  I've looked locally and it seems there just aren't any around and no local shop can give me any info regarding when they could get one in.  If I can order directly from Taylor's and have it transferred to my FFL shop the price seems in line with what it would cost locally (price minus the sales tax)  Does anyone know if one can purchase directly from Taylor's?  Anyone buy directly from them?  Thoughts?

Thanks.

I got my 1873 rifle from Taylor thourgh my firearms dealer. They only sale to dealers or that's what they told me.

The taylor as you probably know is a Uberti but are held to a little higher standard than some I'm told. Mine is really nice.

The taylor actually says Winchester on the barrel, of coarse it's Wlinchester Virginia, the location of Taylor.
