SPAM or real CAS e-mail?
« on: June 11, 2006, 06:08:37 PM »
Hey, Marshal and Tequila,
I got the e-mail which follows in my inbox about changing the database, etc., and it wanted me to click on the "shopping cart" link included. I haven't heard anything about it on here (of course, I generally go to one or two favorite threads, so I could have missed it), so I thought I'd send it to you here.

According to this, I have to click the shopping cart link to continue in the group, but there is NOTHING in the link that says CAS, so I was  very wary of it. I've had a lot of spammers send perfectly believable e-mails from what looks all the world like one from a friend.

So, if this is real, YES, please continue keeping me in your database, group, best wishes, etc. If it's not, then look out folks, there's bad guys out there.

Thanks,

Howdy my friend,

Nope, it is not spam. We are moving all our email addresses to another service to make sure we follow the rules and regulations for mass email submissions like newsletters. When doing that, we make sure everyone has a chance to consider staying on our list or if they want to be removed.

I'll make sure you are still listed with us.
