I found that a copper penny worked quite well, not only for the Winchester mag tube but for the top takedown screw on the S&W #3 model 3. At least they have on all of my firearms.
My best,

I'll repeat my Cautionary.  Often, the magazine plug is tight enough it will turn the whole magazine.  This causes the cross pin at the magazine hanger to groove the the magazine so the follower will no longer pass.  Same same with the cross screw at the carbine barrel band.  Ergo,  I strongly suggest carefully clamping the mag tube in padded vice prior assaulting the plug with objects of blunt force.

I'll second that for Coffinmaker - they fed the Uberti gorilla his steroids just before they turned him loose on magazine plug/screws and there is NO spare room with any of this stuff

Shooter on our posse ended up with a very jammed '73 last weekend.   Magazine was the only remedy.  Unfortunately, the guy had never taken the gun apart before.  I couldn't budge the tube screw with my trusty Brownells screw driver.  Another guy on the posse had just gotten the Slix Springs "wrench" the day before.  It worked great.   Not a tool I need to carry around, but it sure saved the day last Saturday.

It was kind of frightening to look inside a new Uberti that hadn't been 'smithed.

Whenthe plug would not budge using the tricky wrench I let it soak muzzle down in a can od penetrating oil for about a week.
Warmed it with a heat gun slightly and it popped right out.
Now the threads are treated with an anti-size compound and there is no problem getting the plug out to clean.
BTW a .54 caliber jag makes a good fit on the tube.

I forgot to include, when you put the Plug back in, remember to coat the threads with anti-seize lubricant.  Also as an ADDENDUM:

After you get that sucker out, consider going to SlixSpring (Badman Bullets) for a brandy Knew Two Ewe solid BRASS mag plug!!  That Brass Plug looks the big on the end of a '66.  Super TRIX.  Looks pretty good on a '73 too.  Just not quite as good.
