Cimarron 1878 Hammergun
« on: May 23, 2013, 08:53:27 PM »
A little disappointed in the fitting.  The forearm latch slot was chiseled in and looks like a tenth grader did it--it's a proper mess.

No issue, totally handled by Cimarron, really happy with the response.

Well posted this to seek advice more than moan.  The gun is worth what i paid for it.

Just opened it up and was wondering what I should do, the guns are not that expensive, do I even complain?  They ask that you send the entire gun back packaged etc.  Hoping they will just take the forearm and look at it.  Any advice?  And by that I mean, think I could correct it meself?

At the very least I'd contact'm and give'm the chance to do something. All of my experience with'm has been good. We use this same gun where I work and if I remember I'm going to look at that gun in the morning. They can't improve their quality control without feedback.

I had a problem with mine out of the box and Cimarron took good care of me.
I would contact them and let them know your issue

Well, I called them and they are golden with me.  Guy heard the issue and took my address and casually said he'd mail one right out to me.

Can't get better service than that.

So, I'd say all is well.

Bob, I had seen your post and this morning I talked to Chris and Chip at Cimarron and told them they might hear from you.  Fortunately there are extra forends in stock.  I think what they have is just the wood, so you may have to move the hardware from yours to the new one.  Good luck.

Thanks Abilene, as I noted, they already took care of it and are aces with me. I am not skilled or patient or carfty/artistic but I will give it a whirl!  I am glad you said that, I was going to send the piece back to them.  Will see how hard it is to get the latch out.

Service was aces from Cimarron's end, I was really tickled.
