CAS City Classifieds / WTS 1860 Henry $700
« Last post by smoke on Yesterday at 08:49:24 PM »
I have an 1860 Henry Rifle marked one of 1,000.  This was made by Uberti for Navy Arms.

Steel frame, 24'' barrel, .44-40 caliber.

I picked this up for a project but I'm going a different way.  For sale only.

The side plates need to cleaned up and reblued.  The rest of the rifle is worn.

This rifle has been shot, hunted with and done cowboy action shooting.  Understand that.

$700 plus shipping.

Payed on with with discreet pp

Ask any questions.

Entertaining read 1st person account  :),,, Prof

I endevour to entertain!

After all, it IS a game.
And we were encouraged to maintain costume & personna

One day I hope to get my pedlars’ cart together… all the bits are in the new workshop…. Somewhere… under Mrs Marvels boxes of yarn and cloth….

Howvere it may no longer be worth the bother since all the clubs but one have dried up around me!

“Used to be” there were 4 or 5 Different clubs offering 2 to 3 weekend shoots per month, ~ 1/2 hr away!

Since “the troubles” and the demise of SASS there is now only one, an hour away, offering 1 or 2 shoots per month.
And they want to start at 8 am.
And then all pack up and run away home.

Shoot, they finish before I wake up these days 😫😢

And I will never see a COWS group within 3 hours of me.

Oddly, there “was” a group that was trying to negotiate with “the founders” over the entire “foundes ranch”.
That fell thru.
Now the whole shebang is up for sale thru a ranch broker for less than half the original asking price.
Still no takers.

But the neighbors are happier now that .50 cal mg and small cannon are no longer going off….

The Powder Room - CAS reloading / Re: Closest Substitute for Unique

Alliant Green Dot is a slower powder that is sort of similar to Unique in many ways yet fluffier. By volume it may be the same.  You might be happy with it. I sure am.

Howdy all
As I write this I am still grinning. After what seemed an endless uphill battle with my Cimarron .45 Colt Spencer ,it is now as it should have been from the start. When I got it back from it's 2month + vacation, back to Cimarron it was about 85% reliable feeding. After getting Tom at Accurate Molds to make me a custom mold I tested it with 7 dummy rounds a total of 6 times for 42 rds. The noses were getting a bit beat up but I only had one slight 'bobble' and it fed with just a tiny lever jiggle. Today I took it to the range with 'Tom's' bullet loaded cartridges. I ran 5 magazines full thru it without the slightest feeding problem. This was working the lever normally, working it semi slowly, hesitating at the bottom of the stroke etc. No matter how I worked it the feeding was flawless. Not needed was the "working a Spencer with authority, tipping it down to feed or up to eject, holding my mouth a certain way" or any other antics. It just worked like any other quality rifle. To say I am pleased would be an understatement. :) I am going to try to attach a couple of pix but doubt I will be successful in that.

STORM / Re: 1866 uberti stains on brass receiver

I only have two ‘66 muskets and plan on letting them patina. I do however tumble and polish my brass as it makes them easier to find. Please don’t use sandpaper on your rifle.

And as a dedicated brass picker, I thank you!

I used to polish my '66 back when I shot Cleanshot (APP forerunner) as it would make stains and blotches on it I didn't like.  Later started shooting real BP and let it patina.  I have in the past used the technique of taking a patch with BP fouling on it, get it damp, and rub in on the brass.  Gives it a bit of color, not much.

It not "the initial LOOK" I'm afeared of, its "ICED Pissed" atmosphere that follows

That never lasts long here.  Pissed people seldom get the extras they want.  ;D
