What is it?
« on: July 20, 2011, 08:31:53 PM »
Got a SAA clone, in a few months/years I might have enough equipment to get in on the action.  Attaching picture.  Care to guess what it is?

Not sure a Ruger would be considered a SAA clone... :-\

I had a feeling that someone would challenge me on that as soon as I typed it.  Does "SAA clone" mean a replica that is exact in every detail to the first Colt SAA or does it mean something else?  What gun model would qualify as a SAA clone in your opinion?

Thanks.

Any of many that follow the configuration of the SAA. this would eliminate guns with coil springs, modified hammers, odd grip configurations and such.

The Uberti Ps are close. The USFAs are closer.

Okay, that makes sense, now I see why my Ruger isn't a clone.  Thanks.

Serial number and it's location makes it obvious it's a Ruger too.  Nice specimen.   8)

I wondered about that......you've confirmed my suspicions.

Thanks.

What suspicions?  You mean you weren't sure it was a Ruger?  By the way, it's also a .45.  Do you know how to tell from the picture?

Huh?  Of course I know it is a Ruger.  I'm the owner, I bought it, are you trying to insult me or what?  I said it confirmed my suspicions......meaning that the serial number and it's location might be a dead giveaway to what brand and model it is.....just as Danny Bear Claw said.  Good grief!   Okay, I'll calm down...even though you've insulted me:).......how do you know it's a .45 Colt from the picture?

Wasn't trying to insult anybody, just wondered what you meant.  The way it was written it sounded like your suspicions that it was a Ruger were confirmed.  Again, sorry, but there are people on this wire that can't tell the difference between a Henry and a Henry Big Boy.  When there is an unclear statement made in a post you don't know what is meant until you ask.  Not quite like having a face to face conversation where these things can be cleared up on the spot.  You can tell it's a .45 because it has a 7 1/2" barrel.  The New Vaquero in .357 doesn't come with a 7 1/2" barrel.

Don't be sorry, I learned how to tell if that Ruger was a 45 Colt. Thanks P. WM
