Drought.
« on: October 16, 2006, 08:30:49 PM »
The state of New South Wales here in Aussie has been declared 90% in drought conditions :( :(
This also goes for a lot of the rest of Australia and is making for a real tough time for the people on the land and country towns.
A big flow on for food prices all over is starting to take effect right now.

Some are trying to survive feeding their cattle on highway roadsides as Dakota and I saw travelling to and from the Nationals in Queensland recently.

Texas Tall I really feel for those Pard down under. We just came out of an eight year drought. We've had a wet fall and are hoping for alot of snow this winter.
Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intent of arriving
safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in
broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out and loudly proclaiming
 "WOW!"  What a ride!

Yes thanks for that Piedra, This one has been going on for some time now and the Govt. is about to start once again giving help to these pards, but they have to jump thru all sorts of hoops to get it.
And the town folk and shop keepers get hit hard as there is no money to spend in the towns, and on it goes as you well know.
You sound like things are on the mend there mate and I sure hope they are, but these areas don't get snow in winter just dry cold and hot dry summers that is just starting now, reverse to you pard.

All we can do is pray that it turns around soon.

Thanks Mate.............Regards..........Texas Tall ;) ;)

Guess the drought is keeping you from washing your car huh?

Sorry to hear about the drought y'all.  We had one going here for a while a couple of years ago and just about the time that it was starting to really affect things we got some rain.  I'll try to send some of what we're getting now down your way.

Just remember what the old West Texas cowboy said when asked about the drought.
"Well, I would like for it to rain, not for me, I'm 68 and saw rain one time, but my son is 44 and my grandson is 18. I'd like for them to both see rain before they get too much older."
