NEW Japan 1866 Winchester ...$3200.00
« on: January 03, 2016, 01:30:12 PM »
I just read in the trade magazine "SHOT" that Winchester will be offering an 1866 reproduction, fully engraved in 44-40 for $3200 in 20126

$3200 seems large to me for a repro...........

Well, that's interesting.  It would have to be REALLY special engraving to justify that price, I'd think.  Hopefully they will have one at Shot Show, I'll try to look for it if I have a chance.

Adjusted for inflation in the year 20126, that price is dirt cheap  :o ;D

The year 20126?   Hmmm.  I'm 66 now, so probably won't be around for that one.  Just joking, I know it's a typo.  Happy New Year everyone.

Well Yea, but I still gotta pull Roy's chain  :D  OK, Yank it  ::)  Just too good a chance to let it go by  ::)

At that price, the Receiver had best be made from Gold Alloy instead of Brass.

And ........ TA DA .......  It's a JapChester.  Faux Winchester.  Faque.  At 1/3 the price for a shooter, OK.  Even a faque shooter.  After all
the Uberti is a Faque.

I looked on the Shot site and couldn't find anything about it and a Google search revealed nothing.  Is there a volume or issue number or a link?

This thread really ought to be in the Henry Forum IMO.  ;)

What is the suggested retail price without the engraving and the special markings of 1 of 1 1866 Winchesters?
My best,

I noticed the rifle in the pictures has some extra features.  Nifty front sight, Upper tang appears drilled for a tang sight, Lower tang appears to have a Main Spring Tension Screw (originals had Main Spring Tension Screws).  Sucker is well polished.  Wonder if it's also clear lacquered.
Not to be the Nay Sayer, but, Phooey.  I'll have the see one first.

I heard a rumor from an FFL a couple weeks ago that Miroku will be making a '66.
He said wait a couple weeks when it's no longer a rumor.  :)

He didn't mention anything about being engraved or for this money though.
I'll take this as a positive sign that before long they start making more affordable versions.
If they can do one as well as the CCH '73s I have, I'm All In!

Lawyer Safety??  Buried in the Firing Pin Extension Rod, just like the '73.  "IF" Miroku made it.  Could very well be a Uberti  :o :P ;D

If made by Miroku, I see no large screw on top of the receiver like their '73 Model.

Yep IF.  IF Winchester actually makes a production model it will be iteresting to see how they configure the rifle.  I wanted to make sure you weren't referring to the trigger safety that is present on the 73s.
